Mequon is a different scale from the rest of the North Shore. Lots are measured in acres rather than feet, houses are correspondingly larger, and the interiors typically carry a great deal more millwork — crown, wainscot, coffered ceilings, built-in cabinetry and substantial staircases.
That volume of trim changes the arithmetic of a job. In a compact bungalow, the trim is a detail at the end of an interior repaint. In a Mequon home the trim package is often the majority of the work, and whether it is brushed or sprayed makes an enormous difference to both the timeline and the result.
Kitchens here are substantial too, frequently with an island, a butler’s pantry and thirty or forty doors and drawer fronts. Refinishing at that scale is a serious undertaking, but so is the alternative — and the cost gap between refinishing and replacing widens as the kitchen gets bigger.

What we get asked for most in Mequon
Scale
On a big trim package, spraying pays for itself.
Brushing trim is slow, and it scales linearly — twice the trim is twice the hours. Spraying carries a fixed setup cost in masking and containment, but once that is done the rate of work is far higher.
There is a crossover point, and on a Mequon-sized trim package it is usually passed comfortably. Spraying ends up quicker and produces a better finish, which is not a trade-off you often get to make.
The same logic applies to a large kitchen. Thirty-plus cabinet fronts sprayed flat at our shop, in dust-free conditions, in batches, is a far more efficient process than brushing each one in place — and it is the only way to get a genuinely uniform finish across that many pieces.
